Robbie McCauley started his career in kitchens aged 16 through the Royal Academy of Culinary Arts apprenticeship scheme at the Royal Automobile Club in London, followed by time working at Edinburgh’s Michelin starred ‘Number One’.

In 2013, he made the move over to Ireland, spending time in Gregans Castle in Ballyvaughan followed by time with Garret Byrne in Michelin starred Campagne in Kilkenny. Robbie along with his wife Sophie opened Homestead Cottage in the summer of 2023 quickly wining a Michelin star in their first 6 months of opening for there menus that revolve around what they grow and is available from there local larder
